Tessa & Scott Episode 3
Tessa & Scott
On the W Network
Another great episode! We still don't know why these episodes are only 30 minutes long!
It's nice to see how Tessa and Scott relieve stress off the ice. While they have other skaters who they can vent to and hang out with who are going through the same stress, they also have friends and family outside of skating who offer that other perspective (a non-athletic perspective).
Through my experience in skating as well as seeing skaters come through the FSB doors, we know there is a special relationship between skaters and their moms. It's great to see Tessa really lean on her mom for help through the tough and stressful times, and just hang out and relax, or have a night out on the town!
For Scott - who knew that Patrick "Chiddy" Chad was also a great go-cart driver! It's nice to see the lighter, non-stressed side of Scott.
Something that I thought seemed rather interesting was the great friendship between Tessa, Scott, Kaitlyn and Andrew. What a difference between this relationship and the one they have with Meryl and Charlie of the United States! I hope we get to see more of this throughout the season. Heading into the Olympics where they really do all compete as Team Canada, it will be nice to see some other other Canadian athletes that will be competing for Canada. There are quite a few that skate in Michigan, including Kaitlyn and Andrew!
I am also hoping we get to see some more of the costume design process - they showed three dresses that Tessa was trying on. These dresses are not the dresses that Tessa just wore in the National Championships. While we saw the critiquing of their programs, there is also critiquing and suggestions on outfits - I'm hoping we will see some of that!
Finally, at the end of the episode we saw Scott possibly injure himself going into a lift. We did not heard of any injury leading up to any competitions so hopefully that means that this was really nothing too major (it would seem that way). But injuries are very common, and even pulled muscles can cause problems in training and the risk of further injury! I guess we will see how Tessa and Scott handle this added stress.
